ABOUT HAEMATOLOGY

Haematology is an integrated discipline that incorporates clinical and laboratory aspects of diseases of the blood. It is concerned with laboratory diagnosis of blood films, bone marrows and coagulation tests, and with clinical care of malignant conditions (leukaemia, lymphoma, lymphoproliferative) and non-malignant conditions (anaemia, bleeding and clotting disorders). Bone marrow transplantation and blood transfusion medicine are included in its scope.
