WORKFORCE PROJECTIONS
In 2000 there were 17 specialists in medical oncology active in
New Zealand, representing a specialist to population ratio of
1:225,353.

In 2005, this number has increased to 36 specialists.
Modelling has shown that the ratio of 1:100,000 is about right,
although this may change as practices change.
