ABOUT OCCUPATIONAL MEDICINE
Occupational medicine is concerned with the relationship between
health and work and has preventive, clinical and population-based
aspects. The role of the occupational physician is to ensure
effective prevention of illness and injury arising in the workplace
or as a result of work duties. Where prevention has not been
successful, occupational physicians manage the appropriate
rehabilitation of patients and facilitate their return to work.
Occupational physicians also assist people who have illness or
disability unrelated to work but whose workplace or work duties may
require appropriate adjustment.
