What are the financial rewards?

Consultant, public sector — as of 29/06/2009 the salary range is approximately $128,500 to $195,500 depending on years of service.  See the Association of Salaried Medical Specialists Collective Agreement

 There is some scope for private practice although remuneration levels depend on the number of hours that you work and are not as high as for other surgical specialities.
