A document examining the current palliative medicine workforce ,
future projections and planning in New Zealand is currently being
written with the MOH. This document should be referred to. The
number of doctors with the Fellowship of the Australasian Chapter of
Palliative Medicine ( FAChPM) in New Zealand over-represents those
actually practicing specialist palliative medicine as some doctors
working in other fields were initially grand-parented into the
Chapter.
New Zealand is currently needing to expand
training grade and consultant grade post in palliative medicine.
