WORKFORCE PROJECTIONS

	There were seven active rehabilitation specialists in New Zealand in 2000, although this figure may not accurately reflect workforce numbers since doctors who are vocationally registered in other fields (such as internal medicine) may also include rehabilitation medicine in their work.
	The recommended specialist to population ratio is 1:200,000 or 1:100,000. In New Zealand the official ratio is 1:547,000. 1
