WORKFORCE PROJECTIONS

	This is a relatively new specialty that is undergoing rapid growth.
	There are currently 87 emergency medicine specialists in New Zealand, with a target of approximately 160-180.
	There is no agreed specialist to population ration but a total of 100–110 specialists would probably be an appropriate figure for New Zealand.
